"Today I received a letter offering a late mandatory reconsideration"
If it is "offering" an MR then this implies you need to make a decision on whether you want one or not.

Hi gordon - the exact words read: 'your letter has now been accepted as a late mandatory reconsideration request and a pip case manager will consider the points you have raised' but the thing is gordon, at the top of my complaint letter i put in big bold letters, 'this is not a request for a mandatory reconsideration' so can they just ignore this and do it anyway?? Thanks

If you don't want the MR then contact the DWP by phone and tell them then follow up the call in writing.
