Just been speaking to DWP re my mandatory reconsideration. Decision letter was dated 19 September 2017 so I thought I had until 18 October to get letter to them. Turns out one month is viewed as 28 days in the eyes of DWP but it does not say so in their letter! My paperwork asking for a mandatory reconsideration goes to a sorting office where it is opened by Post office Employees and then scanned. It can take 3 days to actually reach the correct Department. Wanted to make others aware of this.
It's one month from the date of the Decision for the DWP to receive the MR request, time spent in their internal mail system is not the concern of the claimant.
