Hi Just wondering if anyone has had the same scenario. I recently got my pip award letter, however, they have started the award from date of my assessment not the original date of the claim. Phoned enquiry line and person I spoke to says they can't see any reason why claim not backdated so has actioned a reconsideration. I'm not moving from dla to pip this is a new claim.if they decide not to backdate can I appeal? I can't see any grounds why they wouldn't but you never know.
The award should be made from the date that the claim was made unless you failed to meet the three month rule for your symptoms in which case a later date can be used. If this was the case then the Decision Letter should explain this.
