Assessment with a Healthcare Professional was created by Steve M
I have received a letter from The Health Assessment Advisory Service requesting I attend an assessment in relation to my benefit claim. It doesn't state which benefit, but I assume it's ESA, as I've just had my PIP assessment at home.
Previously I was included in the Support Group without a medical after completing the form.
The letter states that the Assessment Centre is on the first floor, but can be accessed via a lift. In an emergency, I would need to negotiate 27 steps in order to evacuate the building.
I use two sticks to support me when standing and have difficulty walking even on good days. I would need to travel to the centre by taxi and have someone with me to help as the journey will be painful and exhausting.
Do I have grounds to request a home visit? Do they even exist for ESA - as they do for PIP - as I haven't found any mention in your guides?

Nothing on this board constitutes legal advice - always consult a professional about specific problems

Based on your post they may just move the appointment to a centre without steps.
If you want a home assessment then you will need your GP to write to HAAS explaining why you cannot attend at their offices and why, the letter must be clear that you cannot travel or that it will have a detrimental effect on your health. Any suggestion that you can travel or that there is a risk of danger to you rather than a certainty, will almost certainly invalidate the letter.
