As my DLA is being stopped I am gathering my medical evidence and reports from chest specialist as i have chronic asthma, as well as other problems. As this latest letter contains terms im not sure what they mean, im writing to her to clarify. ie Performance Status 1 and FEV of 53% , she has told me i only have 50% lung capacity. Can one ask for supporting letters from a consultant or is it better to simply send in the report letters which state my condition. ?
My breathlessness varies so reading the questions and points thing its hard to know what to answer...is it best to answer as my worst days. ?
]I live in a rural area with no bus service so am worried about losing mobility allowance but i bet they dont take that into consideration!
Thanks

It's not your conditions that are being assessed but the limitations that result from them, so ideally you want your consultant and other doctors to explain the problems that you would have with each of the PIP activities if it is at all possible.

Do not complete the form based on only your worst days or you risk form being considered fraudulent! If your limitations vary then explain how they do, how you are effected and for how long. The PIP Claim guide explains this in more detail.

Thanks for the reply.
I was awarded DLA indefinitely but i guess they are now reviewing everyone in this category? Has it always been their intention to look again at everyone or has the criteria changed ?
I am 66 very soon so it seems that its not just working age people they are looking at?

PIP is a completely different benefit from the DLA it replaces, having a DLA award is no guarantee of a PIP one, in addition to different criteria, PIP is acknowledged as being a more difficult benefit to award.

All DLA claimants who were under the age of 65 on 8 April 2013 (UK mainland), will be invited to claim PIP.

Please bear in mind the conditions with regard to mobility awards and reaching retirement age
