I was 'invited' to reapply for ESA in October 2017, having been in the support group since 2014. I have heard nothing from them since, although I had confirmation by application and substantial evidence had been received.
My ESA was paid as usual until today, when no money in the bank - my thought was oh no, have they stopped my benefits (again!)
However, I rang the helpline and it was confirmed that there was a processing error and that I would get a call back within 3 hrs. When DWP rang, they clarified that my ESA application had been approved in December and placed in support group for another 3 yes (hurrah/big relief) and that as this was the first payment for this decision, that security clearance was needed. 3 questions answered and full payment paid into my account this afternoon.
I just wanted to alert others in a similar situation, who like me fear the worst and save them the tears and a sleepless night. Make a phone call and ask.
This distress could have been avoided if I had received notification by letter, quick text or phone call to advise me this is usual practice before just getting no money.
Happy New Year to all.
