DLA to PIP was created by Christine
My son has Asbergers and is still on DLA (lower rate for both). Last year he was re assessed for EESA and dropped down to ESA, after a mandatory reconsideration his EESA was reinstated. My son is 36 and will not leave the house on his own and in view of the recent court ruling, he would most likely qualify for the12 points on the mobility on PIP. Anyone advise on whether it would be best to wait until he is sent out the dreaded brown envelop for the change or take the bull by the horns and apply ourselves (I deal with everything for him) Thanks in advance

Don't assume, even with the changes, that he will meet the criteria for the 12 points, we see this issue raised on the forum quite often and probably no more than 1 in 10 actually report problems that meet the criteria for the highest Descriptor.
I would start by having a look at the PIP Claim guide to understand the criteria that he will need to meet, if you reasonably believe that he will meet this criteria for a higher award that he currently has then consider notifying the DWP that he wants to claim PIP.

Thank you for your advice Gordon. Just one more question - do you know the time scale for rolling out PIP as there are varying different dates around (we live in Northumberlnd)?

It is supposed to be completed in 2019 but that seems hugely optimistic given they have only completed about 60% of transfer in the nearly five years that the benefit has been in operation.
