PIP standard care award & facing loss of ESA

I get ESA support group rate. My occupational pension and savings are disregarded as I was passported from Incapacity benefit when that changed to ESA. My DLA has just been reassessed. I did get higher rate care and higher rate mobility. I have just been awarded standard rate care and standard rate mobility. I will be appealing but I am really worried that I will now lose my ESA as that was awarded on basis of getting higher rate care DLA. has this happened to anyone else? what did you do? Does anyone know what the legal position is on this. Any help would be really appreciated. Thanks x

Welcome to the forum, you might want to have a look at the following FAQ which explain where everything is

Welcome to Benefits and Work

I can assure you that your ESA was not awarded due to your Higher Rate Care award, an MRC award may have influenced it, but certainly not HRC which is awarded for fundamentally different reasons than ESA.

I can understand that you are a little confused.
DLA to PIP relates to how your condition affects you managing everyday aspects of living.
Incapacity Benefit became ESA relates to how your condition affects your ability to work/earn a living. They are separate, however when your ESA comes up for renewal, send a copy of the PIP outcome (or appeal outcome) as it will help provide evidence for your claim.
Hope this helps.
