Apparently the DWP/ATOS/Capita usually require the tapes to be sealed (i.e. still wrapped), too.

One member reported a problem with unsealed tapes so we always recommend unwrapping them in the presence of the assessor to avoid this.

I had an PIP assessment recently. I don't think I could've sorted out the tapes on my own. But the recorders da used are much more affordable and manageable than those twin dictation machines that cost £1,000's. Even when they're on EBay they still cost a lot more that the ARGOS recorders. I really hope anyone who wants to record their interview uses this solution. Thanks da! This forum is such a helpful resource.

I recorded mine just over two weeks ago. Got mine from Argos just the basic ones for two it was around £55. And then you have to take 2 90 minute sealed tapes with you. I took the power leads and a double extention cable with me and the placed both on desk and plugged them in. The recordings are quite good you can hear what is said. I'm glad I did as what was in my report and what was said on the tape was was contradictory to say the least. Waiting now to see what I have been awarded to weather I dispute it.
