Hi, just a quick question on behalf of my dad. I know for esa you did not have to give a contact phone number. Dad is still receiving DLA, obviously will be contacted if he wishes to clain PIP.
Basically when we contact them to apply for PIP. What is the law regarding giving DWP a contact phone number? Or is it advisable too? Many thanks once again. Been a member since 2010. I keep up with news and updates, a great site. Nice to see such kind and caring people are still giving great support. Thank you.

There is no legal requirement for claimants to provide a telephone number but be aware that the DWP may well be able to see the number if you call them.
If there are health reasons why they cannot deal with the DWP over the phone then he should tell them of this and require all communications to be done in writing.
