STILL NO TRIBUNAL DATE! was created by RES
Dear Members - my daughter's DLA was up for renewal last July 2017 on her 21st birthday. She has cerebral palsy affecting her mobility. We completed the necessary forms and she was called for an assessment. She was told she wasn't entitled to claim anything. We sent a reconsideration application and was told the same. We then completed the paperwork to take it to a Tribunal. In January of this year we had confirmation that it was going to go to Tribunal. When may daughter called them the other day were told it would be at least a 30 week wait. Meanwhile my daughter is at University in her second year without any PIP or support with her difficulties. She is now falling more often. She has extensive bruising and pain because she is trying to walk further, hence causing her more pain and she is exhausting herself to the point she cannot copy with her Uni work. She is now experiencing anxiety and depression for the first time. Taking away her PIP has taken away her independence and has caused her to now experience mental health problems.
I am a single parent with another child at home and cannot financially support her.
Can anyone advise if the Tribunal can be brought sooner or whether there is anything we can do meanwhile to help with finances.
Thank you

She can write to the Tribunal Service asking for her appeal to be prioritised due to financial difficulty but it is likely that a lot of claimants will be in a similar situation.
She can try to involve her MP, they are limited in the help they can give as this is a legal process but they may have some influence.
Contacting your MP
Lastly she can opt for a short notice hearing if one becomes available, she should get 14 days notice, so she would need to ensure that any submission she wishes to make is already with the TS.
