Man Recon DLA to PIP was created by Charizard
Hello,
I am just writing a report/letter in support of a MR request after my son was given 0 points following an assessment for transfer from DLA to PIP. He has Asperger's and a language disorder. The HP has justified every activity by saying 'reported difficulty is not consistent with the condition history. MSE was normal. Adequate memory etc Got all cognitive tests right, has no cognitive impairment or mental health condition. Plays Badminton therefore he can manage **** safely and reliably.
The HP hardly asked us anything and the cognitive tests were so simple they didn't demonstrate anything least of all a sensory processing or language disorder. The memory tests were repeating three words backwards and again after two minutes. I don't believe this is adequate testing on which to base a decision.
I would be grateful if you could explain what the 'cognitive tests' are so that I can challenge them. Can I challenge any other tests on which the HP has based her decision?
Thank you for your help.

There are three tests that assessors can do, they don't always do them all. None of the tests is definitive and failing them certainly does not indicate that the claimant does not have a cognitive problem.
The first is the memory test you mention in your post, for the second the claimant is asked to count backward in 7s from 99 and in the last they are asked to carry out an action based on information supplied to them earlier.
