Audio Recording at a Home or Centre Assessment. was created by John Mac
Can anyone confirm is it still correct that once approved Capita will provide the audio recording equipment if you have to go to the assessment centre but you have to provide your own for a home assessment. Has anyone recorded their assessment and if so what system did you use that Capita accepted.

Neither Capita or IAS (formerly ATOS) provide recording facilities for PIP assessments in their offices or the claimants home.
You will have to provide the equipment if you want to record your assessment, you will also need permission in advance from the Assessment Provider You cannot make a digital recording, for example on a mobile phone, it must be two simultaneous recordings direct to tape of CD.

Thanks for clarifying that Gordon. Can anyone recommend any reasonably priced suitable recording equipment that has been allowed by Capita in the past.

I can't make a recommendation but other members have sourced suitable equipment for £50-£80 pounds from Argos, Amazon and other retailers.

ATOS (I don't know about Capita) have now started putting notices up in the centres to say that Recordings are illegal and appointments will be cancelled if a claimant is found to be doing so (without permission or prior arrangement). Also the notice I saw yesterday stated that CCTV and recordings used within the centres can be used as evidence in relation to any appeal and the claimant can request a copy of any footage from ATOS..
