ESA and National Insurance was created by Habbiner
I had my ESA stopped in January, my MR was turned down and I am now awaiting a date for my tribunal.
Does anybody know if during this period, despite receiving no money,if a national insurance credit will be granted to me?
If my tribunal is unsuccessful and I am left with no money is there a way that I would be able to claim any form of national insurance contribution?

If this was your first Fit for Work Decision or the first since an award then you should be entitled to the ESA Assessment rate while you wait for a hearing, this would mean that you receive NI Credits which count towards a full State Pension.
If you do not claim the ESA and your appeal is unsuccessful then no Credits a re payable, you can purchase these directly from HMRC.

Thank you Gordon.
I have claimed ESA since moving over from Income Support some years ago. This is the second time that I have had to go to a tribunal so I guess that means no money or NI contributions for me.

Please note though that if you end up in a situation without the NI credits and you plan to buy them: note that you cannot buy the Class 1 NIs that give you access to contributory ESA.
You can buy class 3 - which gives State Pension rights (something worth doing in its own right).
But you can't, as I understand it, voluntarily buy Class 1.
This is a little know aspect of the system which has cost my family dearly.
