I've just received my PIP decision and can breathe a (rather grudging) sigh of relief. Although I was awarded only 4 points for the mobility component (apparently the ability to move my lower limbs makes my mental health condition miraculously disappear out of doors) I received 15 points - thus the enhanced rate - for the daily living component until 2021.

The whole process of applying, form-filling, nonsensical and contradictory conversations with numerous call centre staff, trying to compile supporting evidence, trying to re-arrange my face-to-face assessment from a location in the centre of Birmingham to a home visit, the assessment itself and the period of waiting afterwards was exhausting, humiliating and enormously stressful. There would simply be no way that I could have faced the appeal and tribunal process had I not been - partially - successful at this point. I receive no other benefits. I'm expecting the feeling of bitterness to be replaced by a sense of relief any moment now.

I'm immensely grateful for the information and advice available on this site which shed some essential light on the assessment and decision-making process and in particular the points system. I'd advise anyone facing this process to subscribe and download the relevant guides before putting pen to paper. Many thanks also to Gordon for his dedication and hard work as forum moderator.
