I'll try to keep this as short as possible.
I had to retire through ill health in 2016. I applied for contribution based ESA. After a few months I was called to a 'Work Capability Assessment' After this nerve wracking appointment I was placed in the 'Support Group'
However, in the DWP letter, it didn't mention for how long. I wrote to DWP, who replied that it was 'On Going' Which was such a relief.
I am now confused because I have recently received an ESA50, capability for work questionnaire from Health Assessment Advisory Service.
Does this mean I have to go through the whole stressful process again? Even though the DWP said it was ongoing.
I would really like some advice on this if anyone can help, or has experienced similar.

I'm afraid the DWP's answer to your letter was misleading, ESA awards are indefinite (on-going) but are also subject to regular review and this is why you have received a new ESA50.
This is a full reassessment of your claim and you need to treat it as if you were applying for the first time, complete the form in detail and submit any evidence that you have, even if you have submitted it before. Whilst the ESA criteria has not changed, the DWP guidance has been updated so make sure that you use our latest ESA Claim guides to help you.
