Pip assessment not giving home assessment was created by Marie-Anne
Hello,
I have been told by pip they will not allow me a home visit even with acrophobia and dystonia and mental health personality disorders. My doctor has wrote two letter stating why I need a home visit. The problem they said I can’t have a home visit as they can’t put the assessor in danger as I have been aggressive and we’re making me go to the centre. I have never had a police record and the doctor hasn’t said I’m violent but because I have stated due to my emotional personality disorders and my upset of being in areas I unknown and panic can get upset and angry and with family I have been. Can this happen I have terrible agoraphobia and I feel this will make me actually get upset and cause my outbursts more than being in a safe environment I feel I am now having my mental health and physical health put at risk also. Can this happen as they talked it would be a security issue and nearly made me go all the way to dartford but luckily got a place more local after my carer speaking to them but still not home visit. What can I do and do I not have any rights also? I have never been convicted of any violence and I wouldn’t have an outburst in my own environment. Also is there anything I can do maybe request to go straight into a room with just my carer to wait as do not want to wait around people in a waiting room or in an environment to long. Can I ask if I’m not seen within a time of arrival that I can rebook or if I do have an issue of panic that this is rebooked. I feel I’m being made to now go or lose my benefit. I think this system is unfair to me mental health, physical and with acrophobia. With all my evidence also it’s shocking I’m being even seen with gps neurology and OT support. Please help any advice would help thanks

I think your best bet is to push for a Paper Based Review, we have seen this situation on the forum before and it is extremely rare for a home assessment to be done where the Assessment Provider believes that there is a risk to their staff.
You can try involving your MP, they can often overcome barriers that a claimant cannot.
Contacting your MP
If you have to attend at their offices, then contact them about the arrangements that you mention in your post, these would be reasonable adjustments under the Equality Act.

marie anne ,
hi just seen your post and thought ide reply to you as i was recently in same position as you , i was refused a home assesment for same reasons as you ,,ime also agrophobic and suffer severe anxiety and getting me out the door is a big ordeal ,i rang capita up and explained my concerns and asked if i have to attend would it be possible to go straight in rather than sit in waiting room as i would of landed up walking out because my panic attacks are so severe ,,they assured me this would be aranged and sure enough as soon as i walked into the room the assessor came out of room to greet me and was taken in room straight away ,,so ring them up and explain your concerns and how having to go though this is a massive ordeal for you ,hopefully they will understand and do the same for you ,, good luck and hope it goes well for you ,
