Ok thankyou, what should I say when I ring? Should I just say I cant get there as no public transport ? Or should I tell them I want a home visit? Or ask for a taxi? I will definately be going alone, and on reading here about this assessment centre, it sounds as if the building is consfusing to get into, heavy doors, toilet not easily assessable, and all that will be a problem for me as i have cognitive problems amd get confused, weakness in arms and bowel problems. Im already feeling i cant cope with this. What is the best thing to say to them? Thankyou

What do you want? You need to decide on this before you phone, remember a home visit will require the support of your GP so have you spoken to them about this?

Hi Gordon, I didnt see your reply sorry.
I rang them this morning. Im not quite sure how it went to be honest, as the telephone call ended suddenly, I hadnt even finished speaking! A very uninterested, bored sounding lady told me I would have to attend as its " a medical" ?? I told her yes I did know what it was for, and again explained my situation. She asked me if I was housebound and I said no, I go out if I HAVE to, but not to places I dont know well, especially alone. She asked me if I go to my local shops, and I told her we dont have any shop in my village, I shop online. I then mentioned about possible taxi cost being covered by them, I could hear her typing, then she suddenly said " Ive cancelled your assessment, you,ll get a telephone call with an update" I said "youve cancelled it?" because I was a bit surprised, and worried, because I hadnt mentioned cancelling and I know I only get 2 cancellations ( does that count if THEY cancelled.?) and I was about to ask that, when she again said " youll get a telephone call from us with an update. Bye" and hung up . So Ive just got to wait and see I guess? I cant get an appointment untill Thursday with a GP so I hope they dont contact them until Ive had chance to speak to them. Was that a normal reaction do you think?

Unfortunately yes!
I'm afraid they will treat this as you cancelling the appointment which means that you must no attend the next appointment unless they cancel themselves, for example for a home assessment.
