MR success...or is it? was created by Shemarie
Hi
I've just received the result of my PIP mandatory reconsideration and have gone from standard rate to enhanced rate in both categories.

So far so good, BUT the letter says that the new rates will be paid from September 2019 to 1st January 2021. My next payment will be at the standard rate on 6th November.

This makes no sense to me. Why a year's delay for the enhanced payment???

Yes, I know I have to call them, but before I do can you please tell me if this is standard procedure? Could it be a mistake/typo/etc? Why on earth would they delay payment for difficulties they've assessed me as having now (and for some time).

Advice appreciated, thanks.

No, this is not standard, there is a three-month rule but this clearly is not in action if the award is from September next year, contact the DWP about it.

Thanks, Gordon. Could you please clarify the three month rule and tell me what the usual procedure/ timescale is after the MR? Thanks.

So PIP has a legal requirement for a claimant to have suffered from their current limitations for a minimum of three months before an award had been made, so we do very occasionally see an award being delayed by a month or two because of this.

However, the standard practice is for the new award to apply from the date that the Decision is made, superseding the existing/previous award.
