ESA Assessment was created by cadman
Hi everyone,
I've just received a letter from Maximus saying I have to attend an assessment for ESA. I am a little confused as I filled in and sent my last ESA50 in February 2018 and heard nothing from them until now.
I have been on ESA since moving over from another benefit a couple of years ago. I am in the support group.
Is this normal practice? The letter doesn't say re assessment.
I am also on PIP and I was assessed for this but they came out to my home, this time ESA want me to go to them.
Thanks for you help.

Nothing on this board constitutes legal advice - always consult a professional about specific problems

There are considerable delays in the ESA assessment system and it is not unusual for claimants to have to wait 8 or 9 months for an interview to be booked.
If your conditions have changed since you completed the ESA50 then you should consider either completing a new form or at least writing a letter detailing those changes in context to the ESA activities.
Home assessments are quite rare for ESA, you won't get one, especially with how long you have waited, without your GP writing to Maximus explaining unambiguously why you cannot attend at their offices.

Thank you for your reply.
I spoke to a manager on the Appointments help desk and he said I would not be able to have a new ESA50 form and it was not a good enough reason to delay the appointment. Not at all helpful.
Going to see a Doctor at my surgery - not met before - my own Doctor not available until after the ESA appointment. Not sure what she will be able to do though.

Hi,
Since replying to you about Maximus' response, I have sent an email to their complaints department asking them to reconsider. I found this advice on your guide 'Claims On
Mental Health Grounds'. I have also requested that my assessment whenever it is, is recorded.
I will let you know the outcome.
Thanks again.
