Hi all,

My sister has been on DLA for quite a long time, for various medical conditions. Since her last assessment, she has lost her sight completely, and now doesn’t leave the house as she is too afraid and anxious. So, she was contacted to swap over to PIP, and I filled out the forms on her behalf. She was granted a home visit, which was arranged for the Sunday just gone. And this is where it all goes wrong......

My mum was going to be with her for the interview, which was to be anywhere between 9am and 11am on Sunday (which I already thought was a cheek). My mum’s car wouldn’t start, so she had to call on my daughter to dash out and get her and drop her off. My sister received a message from the nurse who was due to come, saying she might well be late, because she hadn’t realised that Ongar in Essex was so far away from Rochester in Kent where she was coming from. They waited and waited and finally called this lady, who said she had tried to find the house, wi5hout success, and she was now with her next client, and would call back she. She had finished, over an hour later, she called back and said it was now too late, and she wouldn’t be coming today. My mum spoke to her, and she assured my mum that she would make it clear to the DWP that it had NOT been my sister’s fault, so not to count this as her wanting to rearrange it, she promised to call my mum yesterday to let her know what was happening. Needless to say, she didn’t ring, so this morning, my mum rang her. She was apologetic, but said that her mum had yesterday been diagnosed with cancer, so she is now off sick, and wouldn’t be even contacting the DWP about my sister. She said that my sister has to ring the DWP to arrange another appointment, and that it should be ok and not go against my sister if she explains that the woman couldn’t find her house. Yeah right, cos that’s going to happen!

The whole thing has been a shambles, and goodness knows when it will be sorted out. This is just adding to my sister’s poor state of mind. When will it all end?

It's is not the DWP that needs to be contacted it will be the Assessment Provider for your postcode which is IAS, formerly ATOS.

I would consider making a complaint about what has happened
