ESA CLAIM TROUBLES CAUSED STROKE was created by Emma Thomas
Hi, My friend suffers from severe anxiety and stress (baiclly he is housebound) has been trying to claim ESA for over a year. Despite having a fit note for all this time ESA has consistently been denied due to him failing to attend the medical assessment. DWP have ignored this fact and each time a medical is scheduled for CARDIFF location ,when usual location is PONTYPRIDD (I have just had a medical at the Pontypridd office so its not as if they have changed location for medicals) there is no way he could get there without somebody to drive and accompany him. A trip on public treansport even with somebody to accompany him is completely out of the question he couldn';t cope going to the city centre due to his stress.

Ironiclly the overwhelming stress caused by DWP stopping and starting ESA claims and all the financial issues that follow as a result my friend suffered a stroke on New years eve. This is a direct result of how DWP have failed him. Can you suggest how to proceed from here because DWP shouldn't get off with knowing that a severely anxious man with mental health issues trying to claim ESA has had his disability exaserbated by DWP staff to the point he has had a stroke.
CAN SOMEBODY HELP PLEASE??!! XXXXXXXXXXXXXXX

Welcome to the forum, you might want to have a look at the following FAQ which explains where everything is

Welcome to Benefits and Work

In case you are not aware, your real name appears to be showing in the forum, if you want to change this then follow the instructions in the following FAQ

My full name is showing, how can I stop it?

Did your friend challenge the Decision to close their claim for failing to attend or just make a new claim for ESA?

If they didn't then this is likely why the DWP is taking no notice of their problems!

Have they provided medical evidence to support they're being unable to attend at the Cardiff centre?

Again, failing to do this would not help them get a closer appointment or a home assessment.
