To all members

I know a lot of you have been delaying plans for a move because it would result in your having to claim Universal Credit.

As of Wednesday 16 January 2019, if you receive the Severe Disability Premium as part of your ESA(IR), JSA(IR) or Income Support or would be entitled to it and you have a Change of Circumstances which would normally result in a requirement to claim Universal Credit then you will be excused from doing this and will be able to continue with your legacy benefits.

This includes any circumstances where you need to make a new claim for one of those legacy benefits, such as Housing Benefit.

At some time in the future, under current plans, you will be moved to Universal Credit as part of the Managed Migration to UC and will receive Transitional Protection if you receive more benefit as part of your legacy benefits than you would under UC.

I'm afraid there is no news about compensation being paid to claimants who were receiving the SD Premium and have already been moved to UC.
