Pension an benefit entitlement was created by Dribble
Hi you wonderful peeps . Need a quick bit of advice for my 65year old female friend who has just turned 65 this month an will be looking to claim the state pension now , she is in receipt of both pip an esa , don’t know what levels ?? But she has received both awards jsa dla for over 15years .she has just undergone a home assessment for the one award , but I’m unsure which , she has learning difficulties and manic schizophrenia and bipolar , so apologies for sketchy information. Basically can she continue to be in receipt of both awards esa an pop once receiving state pension?? Assuming her recent home assessment approves current continuation of benefits that is .any advice as always will be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance .

Providing they have an award of PIP prior to reaching State Retirement Age then they can continue to receive it afterwards, the only restriction is that the cannot receive a PIP Mobility award after they reach SRA if they did not have one before and it cannot be increased, even if they meet the criteria.

ESA is classed as an income replacement benefit as is the State Pension so once she reaches SRA her ESA will stop and be replaced by the Pension.

She may be able to claim Pension Credit depending on her circumstances.

Thanks Gordon x so if she is currently still on DLA an hasn’t been transferred yet to PIP, but has just undergone f2f home assessment for possibly this ! But during this time span she had turned 65 , does that mean that basically they simply will automatically decline her transition to pip ? An basically she will loose this benefit totally as she is imminently due payment of her statutory state pension?

No, the Transfer Legislation excuses DLA claimants who are invited to claim PIP from the age limit, so providing an award is made, it will be paid.
