PIP Appeal Process was created by TobyToes
Hi
I've got myself confused. When I go to tribunal, can I take someone to represent me such as a barrister? I'm feeling overwhelmed by the whole process and wonder who I could take with me?

Hi sonia
yes you can take a solicitor but there is no legal aid for first tier tribunals so you will need to pay yourself
You could try your local CAB or any other Welfare Benefit service in your area to see they do either attend tribunal with you or just write a submission letter. Some CABs can refer clients to FRU[Free representation Unit] who uses student law students to attend tribunals- check to see if they operate in your area or if there is another service that can refer you to them www.thefru.org.uk/

is it a very daunting task to attend a tribunal and if you can get someone qualified then greta. However many people who systematically go through our guides do attend and are successful at tribunal

All the information you require is there

You can take anyone with you, a friend, a health professional, family member, someone who know you very well
it is also advisable for that person to write a letter on your behave so the tribunal can ask them any questions
