Hi I've recently sent back the es 50 form along with my evidence from the mental health specialist saying I need a home visit, I was wondering if you can still have it recorded if the assessment is at home? And also can you use your own recording equipment or do you have to use theirs, how do you go about asking for it to be recorded and if you are allowed to use your own what does it have to be exactly?sorry for all the questions. Tia

You need permission in advance from the Assessment Provider to make the recording.

It needs to be made to two tapes of CDs simultaneously.

You cannot use a digital recorder such as a mobile phone.

A member has reported problems if the media is not new, so make sure that the tapes or CDs are still shrink wrapped and opened in the presence of the assessor.

You need to give one of the recordings to the assessor.

Most members have used two relatively cheap cassette recorders, check that they record without problem, some have used external microphones.

Just to add to the above, in my case i told them i was going to record (i had one of those twin tape deck things, but chepo from Argos will do) and when they turned up they had no notice of this so it was a surprise to the person doing the interview but they just rang the office and wrote down on a bit of A4 just saying something along the lines of todays date and agreed that this tape was a true copy of interview and we bothed signed it and that was that, so even if they turn up not expecting you to tape there is a workaround
