Support worker to attend assessment with me was created by RB
If, and when I will be called to have a medical assessment to transfer from DLA to PIP I will need someone to attend with me. I do have someone who comes in to care for me daily but she is not available any times other than she comes. I do not have family or a friend to ask.
Mind no longer have anyone to go as an advocate (not that I need an advocate really. Just someone to accompany me on that day). I have been put in touch with a service that does in the area I live in in East London; but they have not got back to me yet, as they are inundated with requests; and it can take days for them to even call back, apparently.
I have tried several private agencies and they are not interested unless I have a contract with them for a carer.
I never realised it could be so hard to find someone to support me. Does anyone know where and how I could advertise privately to get someone with references to do this? Also, thinking, should my carer who comes in to help me should leave, how would I find another person that I can employ apart from through an agency; which I don't want.
I live in the borough called Waltham Forest.
Thanks for any advice.

Try contacting any charities that specialise in your conditions they may have a local support group that can help, also your GP Surgery, they should have a list of local volunteer groups.

Get anyone.
I went in alone to PIPS assessment. Failed and written up as I came alone I could cope.
Assessor was so aggressive that I had panic attacks later.
Preferably I would ask for a home visit and aslo record it too.

Sorry I never saw this message! I am so sorry you did not get the support you needed. I did take someone with me and succeeded in getting the standard rate of PIP but no mobility. This I will ask to be relooked at. Hope you have asked for your case to be relooked at and are successful.
