Pip review period been cut in half was created by Emily87
Hi, I have just registered with this site, thank you for accepting me.

I was originally awarded pip 2 years ago.

I was given a 3 year award (enhanced care only) and was then reviewed after 2 years.

so I had my review assessment a few weeks ago on the 5th of march.

I am still awaiting a final decision on the award.

but a while later I got my assessors report back- which all seems fine...

but the part that concerns me- is that on the report it says that this time- they want to review me after just 1 year... instead of reviewing me after 2 years, (which is what they did originally...).

it's clear from the assessors report that they have taken into account that my mental health has actually worsened since 2 years ago. and if the report is anything to go by, then they may even be looking to award me enhanced mobility on mental health grounds, in addition to the enhanced care payments which I already receive. which is why I don't understand why they would cut my review period in half when my mental health has clearly worsened???

is there suggested review date of 12 month's time set in stone? is the decision maker likely to override this? I am really concerned.

what should I do now, just wait for the final decision to come?

Many thanks,
Emily.

Welcome to the forum, you might want to have a look at the following FAQ which explains where everything is

Welcome to Benefits and Work

The DM is not bound by the assessor's recommendation and may make a longer award, you will have to wait and see.

You mention that your problems are due to mental health issue, this is always going to be a problem as many assessors and DMs seem to think that these magically disappear over time. Are your problems ones that might not reasonably improve? If they are then you could write to the DM pointing this out with either supporting documents or links to supporting information. There will only be a narrow window for you to do this so you will need to send it in the next couple of days.

Moderators are online Monday to Friday 2p-3.30pm and 8pm-9.30pm, all posts are moderated and won't appear in the forum until approved.

Thanks so much Gordon for your help,

I received the assessors report a few weeks ago, but only just noticed the suggested review date a few days ago unfortunately.

does this mean the window to write to the DM is now gone?

Many thanks,
Steph

It will make it more difficult, I would ring the DWP office dealing with your claim to find out if a Decision has been made, it can take 7-10 days for a Decision Letter to arrive but will show on the DWP computer as soon as the letter has been produced. You can then decide whether to still send your letter.

Thank you, I did receive a letter saying 'we have all the information we need to make a decision' (dated the 20th of March), but they said there is still no decision been made yet.
