GP contacted about ESA claim was created by Ian T
I’m currently in the support group for ESA and just sent off my ESA renewal form. My GP has just phoned me to say she’s got a form to fill in about my ESA claim. Should I be worried about that especially as she is entirely useless. I’m worried that the DWP contacting her means they don’t believe me and are going to reject my claim despite my 120+ pages of answers and evidence.

It is not unusual for the GP to be contacted, did they ask you about your limitations or was the call just to tell that they had been contacted?

Thanks. She asked a few questions but I didn’t manage to get the important points across as she really took me by surprise and had woken me up from a much needed rest so I wasn’t really with it. She has never really listened to me or taken me seriously and doubts my diagnoses that I got when I lived elsewhere before I moved here or have got privately.

I’m really worried that her being contacted means that I will be refused ESA or have to have a f2f with tribunal etc. Any advice please?

Maximus contacting the GP is usually a good thing. Try not to worry, you need to wait and see what happens, you may be surprised.

Ian, as Gordon says it may be good news. I had the same with my last 2 ESA reassessments but my GP didn’t notify me. I only found out when I was given support group on paper based. I tried to get a copy of what the surgery wrote but they told me they don’t keep a copy. Try not to worry it may be that they just need a bit more info to save you having to have a f2f. Please let us know how you get on? Good luck.
