I am Currently on long term sick with my employer of 20 years and on the back end of my 6months half pay topped up with SSP. It is unlikely that I am going to be able to return to work and waiting for medicals etc by occupational health. I currently receive PIP standard on both standards but am awaiting results from my last face2face assessment in January. When the SSP finishes do I apply for ESA? My employer will terminate my employment in August if I cannot return to my job. My husband works and I have some savings.

You can apply for New Style ESA if you have at least 50 weeks of NI Contributions in the Tax Years 2016-17 and 2017-18, if not then it would be Universal Credit.
