Becoming a couple on ESA, mean UC will be in qu? was created by Anna
My partner and I both recieve ESA with disability premiums and I recieve DLA and he gets PIP. We are concerned that when we decide to move in together and have to make our claim as a 'couple', 1) will we automatically be moved over to UC? And 2) with all the press coverage I am very concerned this in turn would also mean losing disability premiums?
Are you able to give me any information or advise about where I stand with any of the above please. Thank you in advance

Your moving in together is not a trigger for a UC claim and if one or both of your are receiving the Severe Disability Premium then you are barred from claiming UC anyway.
One of you will have to give up their ESA(IR) claim as only one person in a couple can claim this, if they are also receiving ESA(CB) then this would remain in payment, you can get an idea of what you would receive by putting your information into one of the online benefit calculators.

Thank you for this info. Is being barred from getting UC if you have the severe disability premiums because it's been ruled unfair? I will look at that calculator too thank you was just worried whether it was accurate or not but now you've recommended it I will try it. Thank you for your advice

Yes, the removal of the SD Premium in UC was deemed unlawful.
