Carer's allowance was created by Leon630
Hi all,
I am sorry if this question has been asked before. I have searched but could not find an answerer.
I am in receipt of ESA (pre April 17) and SDA. Also PIP enhanced both elements. I am lucky to have them.
My question is, I am in need of a carer and I do not know if this will be classed as a change in circumstances and then be put on UC?
I understand I will lose my SDP . I have read I will also lose my Council Tax benefit?
I am so confused.
Any advice will be much appreciated.
Thank you
Leon

If someone claims Carers Allowance against the enabling benefit (DLA or PIP?) that allows the payment of the SD Premium, then it will no longer be payable, your employing a carer would not affect your payments.

I don't believe your Council Tax support will be affected.

This is not a change that would result in your being asked to claim UC.

Thank you Gordon,
You have put my mind at rest :) .
I know I will lose my SDP, but I really need care, 'so be it'..
Harsh system, but have to live with it and disabilities.
I hate it!

Leon, should you need care, you should ask your Local authority adult social care team to come and assess you.
