New ESA50 form to fill in. was created by Ladit
Hi all.
My daughter is currently receiving ESA in the support group. She was awarded this hardly 2 years ago but has now received a new ESA50 form to fill in. Her medical condition hasn’t changed at all and she has a copy of the form she filled in then of which she was awarded ESA support group without a medical. Can she just refill the new form with the same information, of course with updated evidence, or has there been changes in the eligibility criteria for ESA support group since May 2017? Are all claimants being reassessed?
On another note her PIP benefit was recently reassessed quietly with information they have on file by DWP a year early and a letter sent to her last week that she’s now been awarded the benefit for an ongoing period (enhanced for both care and mobility). Is this the norm now for quiet reassessments?
I await your response, especially about the ESA form.
Thanks in advance.

Hi Ladit
There hasn't been a change in the eligibility of the support group, but even if you are saying that your daughter's condition is unchanged, you need to ensure that you fill in the boxes giving an explanation. Any additional evidence is always useful. Check out our guides for further information.

'Quiet' reassessments are not yet the norm.

Thank you for the response. Yes I’m helping her fill the new form and putting as much detail as we can using extra sheets.
Yes, the PIP letter came as a shocker as she’d only been awarded a 3 year benefit after being on an indefinite DLA award for over 10 years. She was subjected to a face to face in another city from where we live but she provided a lot of medical evidence as advised in your guides and the assessment/ medical only took 15 minutes.
