PIP MR - Will There Be a DM Phone Call? was created by Clare
Hi,
I've submitted a late MR request with my reasons for it being late as well as pointing out the errors in the report etc. I'm not anticipating to hear anything soon but I wanted to know whether I should be expecting a phone call from the decision maker or will it be done by letter?
I ask as I really struggle with phone calls (I have mental health problems and I'm autistic). I don't answer the phone unless it is 'Unknown' and I believe it could be my mental health team. I'm guessing it would come through as Unknown/ withheld from DWP and if I'm expecting a call from my MH team, I would end up answering and I want to know how to prepare myself for a call like that.
If they do deal with MRs by phone call, does anyone know how I can best navigate the call? My instinct would be to say I can't discuss it over the phone and ask for it in writing but don't know if they'll accept that
Any help is appreciated
Thanks
Clare

Nothing on this board constitutes legal advice - always consult a professional about specific problems

There is no legal requirement for a DM to contact the claimant during and MR, it occasionally happens but only rarely.
If a call is made you ask for them to call at a more convenient time when you could be prepared for the conversation. You could prepare by making a bullet list of the points that you made in your MR.
If you really do not want to take the call then just say that you have presented all of your information in your MR and you want any further communication to be done in writing.
But as I said, it is very rare for the claimant to be contacted.

Thanks Gordon - I'm much more at ease knowing it's not definitely going to happen
