Hello Gordon et al: My sis has an appt for a face-to-face ESA review. She receives enhanced/enhanced PIP including explicitly for inability to travel unaccompanied. Having as her appointee requested a home visit as I cannot accompany her, the usual request for a HP's letter's been made - but that is £30. As PIP evidence of need - to which I've referred them - should be clear, is there anything you suggest, please? It's wholly unacceptable, in my view, effectively to require claimant's to pay for medical evidence... DWP baldy states in ESA appt covering notes 'we do not pay for such letters' (paraphrase).
I am afraid the DWP are unlikely to offer you a home visit without a letter from the GP confirming that to attend an assessment center would be to the detriment of her health.
ESA and PIP are different so they will not just agree to it because she receives the enhanced rate of PIP. It is up to the GP whether they chose to charge for such letters (and many do.)
