I've just been told two different things by Capita staff about my chances of getting a home assessment.
On Friday I rang them after being informed they'd do the assessment at their office next Monday. A friend had told me I could ask for it to be done at home, and their staff member told me it was fine; that my file said I was entitled to that, but I'd just have to ring back today as it would have to be in July and July appointments weren't coming up on their system yet.
Rang today and was told home assessments are very scarce and that all I could do was keep ringing back to see if one came up - otherwise, I could change my appointment, but I can only do that once.
What have other people done in this situation? I was recently diagnosed with Autism Spectrum Disorder (have informed them of that, as diagnosis happened after I submitted my form - my claim is about other conditions) and have learned that it's the reason I find all sorts of things difficult, including new places and people. Has anyone had any luck pushing for a home visit as a reasonable adjustment for ASD?
In order for you to be considered for a home visit, you will need a letter from your GP - which should be sent to Capita and DWP stating the reasons why you are asking for a home visit eg It would cause you physical and /or mental distress to attend an assessment center. A letter from a GP is still not a guarantee, but it is rare to be offered a home visit without one.
