DLA assessment indefinite before PIP transfer was created by jobich
I had a DLA assessment years ago following a stroke. My first award was for 2 years, my following award to my surprise and relief was indefinite.
That was around 10 years ago.
I have recently received the PIP invite. In the telephone interview I asked to see my DLA assessment decision makers report before using it as evidence to support my claim. I was told PIP can’t send it to me to see before they use it.
Is that correct? Can I request DLA to send it to me? I wanted to see it before filling in my claim form. I have no copy of my DLA claim form or the assessment decision makers report and I’m terrified they will use it against me somehow.
Can anyone here help please?? I’m so worried it’s making me feel sick.

Hi Lesley
Welcome to the forum, you might want to have a look at the following FAQ which explains where everything is
Welcome to Benefits and Work
It's up to you if you want to try and use your old DLA information, but be aware that the PIP assessment criteria are significantly different from the DLA ones and what the PIP assessor will be most interested in is how you cope with daily living now.
As you have not been assessed for some time (ten years) you might want to concentrate on using new evidence.
There is no guarantee that your DLA information will still be available.
Although you can ask as part of you making a claim, I would not expect the DWP to provide copies of the DLA evidence to you.
You can try and get copies of your previous DLA information, by making a Subject Access Request.

I really would look at our comprehensive guide on filling out the PIP form www.benefitsandwork.co.uk/help-for-claimants/pip.
