Question: Would ATOS have an issue with me requesting an assessment at the centre instead of at home as they have appointed? (Appointment is for next week)
Background: I just got my letter about my PIP review assessment (six months or so after filling my form!) and unlike my previous assessments it’s an in home one.
I suffer from CFS/ME and do have some restrictions in getting around but that’s never stopped them asking me to attend the centre before. I’d prefer to have my assessment at the centre rather than at home because anxiety about the unfamiliar situation will affect my sleep in the days leading up to assessment. Getting a lift to the centre makes attending easy enough in terms of transport.
You can cancel that appointment and make sure that you request the next one is at a centre. Just be aware that if it is not at a suitable venue or date you won't be able to change your mind a second time.
