I have had a notice of a compliance telephone interview and it has freaked me out. Never had any thing like this before. Claim DLA high rate mobility and care. Contribution based ESA in support group.
Recently cashed in a small private pension because of health conditions. Should I have told the DWP this? didn't think I had to because am not claiming means tested benefits.
Why does DWP want all my financial details when im not claiming means tested benefits?

Hi Zaffie

Compliance interviews are income related interviews where the DWP checks your financial status.

There are different reasons why a letter for a compliance interview can be sent out. it could a random selection, it could be because something has been flagged but even if it is the latter, it does not mean that there is a case to answer. They may just be wanting to check that you are receiving the right amount of benefits. At least one member recently found that it was just a simple check.

The DWP have the right to check financial records regardless of whether the benefit is means tested or not.

I did the same about 4 years ago and used the money immediately to refurbish my home. (So did not have savings per sa) I was then called in, investigated and fined around £2,000 which they take weekly out of my ESA .

Hi all
I had to reschedule my telephone interview to cut a long story short yes I should have told them about my private pension. It was all sorted out there and then case closed. Lady very helpful did not have to disclose savings etc. Ant one else gets one of these compliance letters try not to worry.
