My mum has just been diagnosed with dementia and is pretty bad. How difficult is it to get PIP for dementia and can she claim at 78?

Hi Daniel
The qualifying age for PIP is 65 or State Retirement Age, whichever is the higher, so, unfortunately, your mum is too old. However, she may be able to claim Attendance Allowance. You can investigate it on the government website from the link below.

Hi Daniel
I help many people with dementia apply for Attendance Allowance, the application form is slightly easier than PIP. You will need supporting evidence such as what personal help do you provide for your mum. When you say your mum has your been diagnosed with demantia, do you have a copy of the diagnoses, if you have then this can help with your claim.
