DLA TO PIP ASSESSMENTS was created by ostia
Hello all
I had a telephone call assessment last week to start my DLA to PIP claim. I received a form yesterday stamped the same day as the call (1st July) and it has to be in the 1st August. I have various neurological and brain issues plus diagnosed ME and I can't see I can get it done by then even with help with a friend. They have given a phone number to call to ask for more time. This number can also be used to CANCEL a PIP claim!
I am really worried that the DWP can get mixed up in this situation and I will have no written proof of my extension application. (Something similar happened to a friend on Jobseekers Allowance a few years ago.) Claim stopped because no evidence of her phone call).
DO you know where I can find a FAX number to send my request to so that I will at least have proof of sending an extension request?
Thanks so much
Osti

I've moved your post to its own topic, we ask members not to post their questions in other member's topics as it can lead to the wrong advice being given or taken.
The DWP won't accept a fax from you. There are no numbers available for you to contact them this way.
Whilst I understand your concerns I cannot recall anybody reporting a problem with getting an extension to return their form but if you are still concerned then you can phone to request the extension and then phone again the next day to confirm it has been recorded on their system.

Hi Ostia
Gordon is right, I never had any issues in getting a two week extension, PIP help line 0800 121 4433. What I would add is, always ask for the name of the person you are talking too, if you are not sure how to spell their name, ask, I do all the time, also note down the time of your call.

Hi Ostia, I requested an extension and was also advised to follow this up with a letter asking DWP to confirm the extension was granted which I duly did. The letter they sent to me said that I might still receive letters saying my form was due back but to ignore these as these letters are computer generated. I was given a 2 week extension.
