What do DWP class as pensionable age under ESA rules, is it 65 or is it when you are eligible to take your state pension. Many thanks.

It is State Retirement Age or 65, whichever is the higher.

Thank you Gordon. So where does that leave people that lose ESA at 65 but can’t claim their state pension until 66?.

Their ESA should continue until they reach pensionable age.
