New Style ESA and support group was created by Rozm2004
Hi
I have claimed ESA new style and have been awarded £73.10 per week,
What I’m confused about is I have lost my job on capability grounds due to ill health. I qualified for Tier 2 of NHS pension which means I am unable to work in any capacity.
My GP is doing me a certificate to be unfit for work indefinitely.
How ever from what I understand I won’t be called until 8 weeks for an assessment with ESA to see if I will be put in support group or work group,
Will they take into consideration my assessment of my pension as in I am unable to work,
I have a progressive liver disease and suffer with chronic fatigue which means I can’t commit to work or function safely.
If I got put in the support group would the extra amount be back dated ?
I’m just so worried that they will make me go to work and I will lose my pension !
Thanks for any advice in advance

You are currently in the ESA Assessment Phase this lasts a minimum of 13 weeks or until you are assessed and a Decision is made.

Those assessing you will have no knowledge of the assessment for your pension unless you provide them with the information but be aware, ESA has specific criteria that you need to meet and whilst it is probably unlikely you could be found Fit for Work by your ESA assessment despite the finding of your pension report if you have not shown that you meet that criteria.

If an award of the SG is made then it will be backdated to the beginning of week 14 of your claim.

Hi Gordon
Thanks so much for your reply, I thought maybe that would be the case,
I’ve looked at the criteria and couldn’t see anything that covered chronic fatigue etc
I will just have to wait and see
Thanks again for your help and info
