Carrying in prepare and cook meal was created by riget
Hi, ok I've been over this again and again but can't find an answer anywhere, it's like no one wants to say, so as in it's title pip is a payment to help disabled people be independent, and the activities are for where they would need help, the activity "prepare and cook a meal" would be for what a disabled person would need to cook a dinner, yet they exclude carrying, now most people agree to cook a meal without carrying would be impossible weather you're disabled or not, so why do they say this?
On the pip quide here it states:

Caution! Guidance to health professionals tells them that “Carrying items around the kitchen is not included in this activity.”

However, this is guidance only and we consider that it is incorrect. The legal definition states that “Prepare”, in the context of food, means make food ready for cooking or eating. This might well include carrying food from a worktop to the sink to wash it, to the cooker to cook it and then to another surface to serve it. If you have problems with any of these activities, give details and, if you are not happy with the decision, consider challenging it.

This is the only info I can find but still doesn't say why, someone out there must know and any legal people should be able to say why this can be said, unless they don't want to rock the boat so to say.

Thanks.

Hi Riget

You are asking a question which no one is going to be able to answer for you - "Why do they say this?" (regarding carrying items).

As already stated - B&W believes the guidance is wrong. And that is what it is 'guidance only' and if an assessor is asking about the preparation and cooking of a meal, there are plenty of people (including myself) who are unable to carry items, have said so on our forms and have been asked to clarify during an assessment.

You can drive yourself mad trying to work out 'why' the DWP say certain things. If you're filling in the form use your energy to make it clear what difficulties you have, using the B&W guides.
