What constitutes a change of circumstances? was created by Goodlife
Hi there,
I am enquiring about what constitutes a change in circumstances in relation to a PIP claim? I have been asked to change my method of payment from Post Office to a bank, credit union or a building society account. Seems simple enough. The form says that I using a bank account won't change when how or much I am paid. However I know of two people who were also sent this form. One had her benefit payments changed to monthly in arrears from fortnightly. The other was paid monthly but they suspended all her payments whilst they sorted out going onto monthly - she ended up waiting six weeks before she got anything. Both then (within a month of changing over) got a review of their PIP claim 'as a change of circumstances had been notified'. This review included new face to face assessment in both cases. My husband has just been diagnosed with cancer and I don't think I can take going through filling in the forms etc etc as I am at a low ebb as it is. My award has two more years before review date.
My Question really is this ; does a change of payment method constitue a change of circumstances? and have other people had this and ended up with an early review. Sorry for the ramble.

Nothing on this board constitutes legal advice - always consult a professional about specific problems

Changes of circumstances come in two "sizes", those such as changing the account that your money is paid into, which will not result in a reassessment of your award and changes that impact on your eligibility for an award, such as your conditions changing which will result in a reassessment.
So, you should not be reassessed for moving to a bank.
