ESA questionnaire- I just can't was created by Waylay
I've been in bed for 1.5 years, since partway through my last PIP 'round. I was just starting to crest the hill - eating every day, gaining weight, showering twice a week... I've been out twice in the past 4 months - my bday, to a local familiar place, and a couple of weeks before, to a small backyard thing at a friend's house. Both were terrifying and amazing... My body is so weak, although funnily enough my pain is a bit better, as I have fewer spasms when I stay horizontal. My mental health was beginning to recover, but now... I just... I can't. I can't do it. I can't watch my partners and friends get sucked into the whirlpool again either - one of them is on the transplant list - she needs their support, not me. I just...

I can fully understand how the prospect of a new ESA assessment is very daunting but you cannot look at in isolation, how would you manage if you no longer received it, what impact would that have on your mental health.

So, if you have received a new ESA50 you need to think about how you can deal with it as failing to return it could result in your ESA claim being closed. If you really can't face filling it in then return it with a short letter saying that you are too ill to complete the form.

Have you spoken to your GP about the help they could provide?

Waylay,

Someone at Welfare Rights should be able to help you. They can come to your home and fill the form in on your behalf. You can reach them by calling your local council.
