We've got to post the PIP2 in 10 days. Last week I took my autistic son to the doctor's to get an up to date certificate. It's true that my son's life has improved recently, he has even made some "neuro-normal" friends (because they treat him as a joke and he goes along with it - he has an endearing sense of humour) However, because of that, he's decided there's nothing wrong with him and he was adamant about that in replying to the doctor's questions. If he keeps that up at the medical examination, he wont' stand a chance.
Any advice?

Ryan

Is his GP willing to provide evidence that he is denying his limitations or that he has no appreciation of them in the first place?

Are you your son's appointee?

Hi, Ryan

When I sent in my son's PIP and ESA forms, I made sure to say everywhere that it was appropriate, that he wants to please people who speak to him, so he says what he thinks people want to hear.
I said that, to him, he is normal, it's everyone else who has the problems.

In addition, I did send in quite old stuff -- his old statement of SEN, for example. I didn't expect them to read it, but because sent it, I was able to quote from it, for example where the speech therapist was quoted as saying that he didn't understand the questions and therefore his answers couldn't be taken as accurate. I would put the actual quote in on the form, and put the page and paragraph number next to it in brackets, so they can check the context.
It proved very useful at the Tribunal, because I was able to show that the assessor had ignored a lot of evidence to believe what he said to her.
