pip assessment totally misleading was created by poppylouise32
my daughter 22 years old and autistic and mobility issues last years was turned down when to appeal and the doctor destroyed her and she broke down in meeting, awarded nothing. Just went with her to assessment being mother and took a autism support person with us, the assessment went okay we thought, received reply she still gets nothing and said she shown no signs of overwhelming psychological distress, and she attended school and got GCSE, she is now 22. anyway just trying to put together mandatory notice and not she where to start. I would like to know can we openly state we are voice recording any assessments meetings for our own notes, can they refuse?

Nothing on this board constitutes legal advice - always consult a professional about specific problems

Welcome to the forum, you might want to have a look at the following FAQ which explains where everything is
Welcome to Benefits and Work
In case you are not aware, your real name appears to be showing in the forum, if you want to change this then follow the instructions in the following FAQ
My full name is showing, how can I stop it?
You need permission in advance from the Assessment Provider
It needs to be made to two tapes or CDs simultaneously.
You cannot use a digital recorder such as a mobile phone.
A member has reported problems if the media is not new, so make sure that the tapes or CDs are still shrink-wrapped and opened in the presence of the assessor.
You need to give one of the recordings to the assessor.
Most members have used two relatively cheap cassette recorders, check that they record without a problem, some have used external microphones.

It appears you have already had your assessment so did you record it without permission?
My son also has some form of autism and the assessor found against him because of a psychological report when he was 10, and that he did not have any special needs help when he was in high school. He is now 31 and we have only just realised in the last 18 months his issues are probably due to autism. I wrote a letter for mandatory reconsideration and pointed out every observation she got wrong and explained why. She even said he looked malnourished when he was 15st!!. Anyway we did not get DWP to change the decision so proceeded to the tribunal stage.
We finally managed to get a letter from my son's previous counsellor and a letter from the mental health team, which obviously helped as we found out today they have stopped the tribunal booking and awarded him full PIP. I also gave detailed explanations of how his condition effects him. Every letter I wrote on his behalf I got my son to sign and then added a note saying I had written it on his behalf and signed it myself.
My advice would be to get any up to date letters from your daughter's mental health team and ask them to take this as evidence, rather than outdated information. If you can obtain this to send off with the mandatory reconsideration letter it would be useful but, if not, you can send the letter and say you have more information to follow.
