I'm helping a friend with his son's PIP claim. They've been sent a letter from DWP giving them an "extra 14 days to complete the PIP2".
This seems like a shift in procedure. Normally claimants have to request an extension. Is this something new? It does seem a reasonable change. My friend and his son were going to ask for extra time anyway - now they don't have to ring and ask.
However, should there be anything they need to do to safeguard themselves.
There PIP2 form obviously has the original deadline day printed on the front (page 5)? I'm thinking in terms of confusion at the DWP end - and them maybe saying the PIP2 has arrived too late - sorry. The young lad is migrating from DLA to PIP - so wouldn't want to have DLA stopped.
This is not new, it happens where the claimant is registered on their systems as being vulnerable.
There should be no need for further action, you have the letter and the date printed on the front of the form is not used when the form is scanned on return.
