Does ESA assessment automatically trigger a DLA/PI

Hi, having been left blissfully alone by the DWP (ESA support group, DLA middle rate care, high rate mobility), I received an ESA assessment form which I duly completed and have been called to a healthcare professional assessment with four days’ notice.
If I cannot get anyone to travel 20 miles with me, I shall withdraw my application as I just cannot do it alone. I know this is feeding into the DWP’s hands but I am terrified of the whole process.
My question is....does this ESA assessment after a gap of over six years automatically trigger a DLA assessment, ie transfer to PIP (or not as the case may be)?
Many thanks

Welcome to the forum, you might want to have a look at the following FAQ which explains where everything is

Welcome to Benefits and Work

We haven't seen any discernible pattern for this, certainly some members have received an invitation after an ESA assessment but our understanding is that DLA claimants are selected at random so it is likely coincidence.

Eva, my husband has experienced the same thing in reverse. After 7 years of being awarded indefinite DLA and ESA Support, we were invited to apply for PIP in May and this weekend he received an ESA 50 form. The latter has been a huge shock, especially on top of the first.

While I understand the migration from DLA to PIP (although I question the integrity of the entire process), the ESA assessment makes no sense at all as my hubby’s condition is incurable and progressive. The gentleman I spoke to at Maximus suggested the one may have triggered a review of the other, but it’s really just a guess.

Who knows, this may be the start of a trend or it may be an unfortunate coincidence as Gordon says.

Take care sweetheart. I hope things work out for you.

Eva so sorry to hear about the DWP treatment. I am in a similar position. However I am certain that the DWP are breaking their own rules by only giving you 4 days notice to arrange a companion to go with you if you need one. I was called with 5 days notice a few years ago and my GP immediately emailed the DWP to say this was wrong and unfair. I also got a letter from my MP to back this up. The DWP then backed down.
Please don't give in but tell them clearly that their actions are unreasonable and that you need more time and/or just a paper assessment, or perhaps a home visit if your GP backs this. It worked for me. Good luck. xx
